PMA Office hosted successful Summer Day-Camp 2023

The Piton Management Area( PMA) held a two-week-long summer camp which ended on July 28, 2023. The main objective was to heighten

awareness of the importance and functions of the PMA as it relates to preserving the pristine beauty of the Pitons and the Sulphur Springs. It was also held in an effort to increase the membership of the PMA Club.

The meeting point was at the Soufriere Special Education Center but most of the activities were outdoors and included a cleanup campaign, a sports day, an afternoon at the swimming pool, and hikes to Gros Piton, Sulphur Springs, and Fond Doux Historical Park.

The camp catered to over 20 students from Soufriere and environs and was supervised by 6 adults. A closing ceremony culminated the activity with various presentations depicting the PMA and knowledge learnt over the time period. According to the PMA Manager, Mrs. Joan Hippolyte, this type of activity augurs well not just for the students but for the community as a whole, since many of the residents benefit from the economic activities which take place at establishments within the Pitons Management Area.

The manager anticipates that in the coming year, there will be a larger attendance at the PMA camp. She extends immense gratitude to all sponsors, facilitators, and participants for making this annual activity a success.
